Check out The Book of Negroes (a list of every person who were relocated to Nova Scotia after the Revolutionary War). They called it Nova Scarcity because Britain, who was supposed to provide the means to get them started in their new lives, really didn't follow through. The townspeople who lived near them weren't exactly welcoming either.
An EXCELLENT fiction book (but based on solid research) is Someone Knows My Name (US) The Book of Negroes (Canada). I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Not every Black person. But a pretty comprehensive tally of free and enslaved Blacks departing New York City. The evacuees from the other cities are not included in the BON.

Sounds like an awesome recommendation. I will definitely check it out

This was such a fascinating read thank you! I'll be in Montreal so sadly not Halifax but curious about their Black history now too
